Project Control Officer (PCO)- permanent position

Renewable energy sector, customer in Montreal

 

Our client in the Renewable energy sector in Montreal is looking for a Project Control Officer for a permanent position. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Project Manager in monitoring, controlling, and with the management of the project progress and performance and other aspects of project management (scope, time, cost, quality and risk)
  • Support the Project Managers in developing and maintaining project plans and schedules for carrying out the project, and identify resource and personnel needs in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Analyze and identify discrepancies between the estimated, actual time and cost spent on a given project
  • Provide project planning support, including scheduling, budgeting, performance monitoring, variance analysis, status reporting, and resource planning
  • Lead the evaluation of the project ‘s schedule, costs, and quality targets, applying governance controls as necessary to enable the successful delivery of the project
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations against the baseline using lead and lag indicators, recommend remedial actions
  • Coordinate and lead estimating effort with all disciplines to compile the project budget for each phase of project development
  • Coordinate and lead planning sessions and workshops to compile the master project schedule agreeing baselines and a critical path. Supported by a planner
  • Coordinate and lead project change management process and ensure change impacts are properly integrated in project plan (scope, cost, schedule)
  • Ensure that all deliverables to the client (i.e. all documentation) is defined and presented according to Enerkem quality standards
  • Perform proper tracking of the project schedule and budget in order to proactively apply corrective actions/measures when necessary
  • Responsible to issue, with the support of the Project Manager, the required status report and dashboard for internal and external stakeholders, including executive level dashboard
  • Ensure project control procedures and policies are executed and functioning according to Enerkem’s methodology & performance standards for all projects
  • Track project invoicing and payment schedules progress.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in relevant program (technical or business related)
  • 12+ years of experience in Project Controls on 100M$+ projects
  • Experience on projects in heavy industry an asset
  • Advanced Knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Hands-on experience working with MS project tools: SharePoint, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Visio
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 considered a strong asset
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrate autonomy, initiative, accuracy and precision
  • Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and to work successfully under pressure
  • Able to manage one’s time while assisting several Project Managers and multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of PMI processes
  • Strong analytical, statistical and organizational skills
  • Track record of preparing both “detailed” and “management level” reports
  • Bilingual (French & English)
