Environmental Services Resource Manager/ Manufacturing client in Montreal

Our client, a renowned company in the manufacturing sector in Montreal, is currently looking for a Environmental Services Resource Manager for a permanent position.


Job Description:

Oversee the environmental and financial performance of Total Waste and Resource Management Programs at the client locations. The Resource Manager will focus on the proper management of all hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes at the client locations as well as in-plant industrial services. Major emphasis on the creation of cost-saving through the elimination, reduction and recycling of waste.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all tasks are performed in accordance with all regulatory standards and company policies while governing the proper management of solid and hazardous wastes.

  • Identify and characterize wastes.

  • May include preparing containers for proper TDG shipment.

  • May include preparing and signing shipping paperwork such as manifests and bill of ladings for all waste shipments.

  • Coordinate scheduling of waste pickup within compagny and potential third party providers.

  • Coordinate the procurement of necessary waste containers

  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors and supervisors on any changes or discrepancies in terms of contract and/or subcontract requirements.

  • Ensure that contract and/or subcontract requirements are being met and exceeded

  • Analyze financial performance of contracts and provide written reports

  • Coordinate “in-plant”clients’ waste management systems

  • Sample and prepare waste material samples for analysis.

  • Track manifests, bill of ladings and certificates of destruction returned in 35 days, match documents, and maintain files.

  • Monitor activities, track wastes and cost data, and prepare comprehensive reports, providing customer tracking data to clients. 

  • Provide/Analyze baseline reconciliation as required per the contracts with clients or as needed to manage discrepancies.

  • Assist with the preparation and the presentation of annual budgets and quarterly review meetings

  • Perform and document waste accumulation area inspections.

  • Develop and implement plans/projects focusing on the reduction, the reuse and the recycling of wastes generated by manufacturing, pollution control and maintenance operations.

  • Analyze the costs and the benefits of pollution prevention programs.

  • Continually evaluate the markets and third party recyclers ensuring we offer the best value for commodity by-products to our customers.

  • Support management systems & deliverables by focusing on federal and local regulatory compliance standards as well as the plants’ Environmental Management policies and procedures, dealing with the proper management of waste and preventing any risk of pollution.




  • Bachelor of science degree in Environmental studies or in Chemistry required

  • 5-10 years or work experiences in a related field such as environmental services

  • Knowledge of Ministry Of Environment Regulations

  • Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act

  • General knowledge of ISO Standards, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems

  • Experience in completing Waste Characterizations including sampling 

  • Great communication skills within the team and the clients

  • Ability to prioritize, to organize and to multi-task

  • Professional attitude oriented towards customer satisfaction

  • Dynamic, great interpersonal skills, persuasive, autonome and team player who can take initiatives to best serve the team and to meet/exceed clients’ expectations

  • Frequent travel to clients and or vendors’ sites – up to 50%


    Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs

  • Able to sit periodically and for extended periods of time, to climb ladders/stairs, to reach below knees & above shoulders, and to kneel

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and ability to reach forward and to grasp
