Reporting to the Director - Automation, Instrumentation and Control, the Assistant Director is responsible for the performance and planning of a team of approximately 25 engineers and technicians in the discipline. He manages the automation, instrumentation and control team to support GCM Consultants projects. The performance of this team is essential to the success of the projects and the satisfaction of the clients. Furthermore, he demonstrates his credibility and technical leadership both internally and externally by inspiring confidence in our clients, employees and potential resources. He has the courage to intervene and acts ethically, empathetically and is aligned with the company's values.
As part of your job, you will be required to:
Human Resources Management:
- Participate in the hiring process of your team.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to employees under your supervision.
- Actively participate in the development of employees under your supervision through individualized development plans.
- Distribute responsibilities according to the skills of your team members.
- Follow up on the performance of resources (trio meeting of employees under your supervision).
- Contribute positively to the work climate in order to have mobilized and inspired teams.
- Supervise the work of employees (e.g., work plan, performance index, alignment, etc.)
- Participate in the allocation of resources to projects.
- Occasional: Acting as interim Discipline Lead from a production perspective.
Technical Management:
- Participate actively in the marketing activities of the department.
- Prepare and evaluate the department's service proposals. Be responsible for validating service proposals of $50k and less.
- Provide solutions for problem solving and ensure their implementation.
- Identify technical tools to be developed and participate in their development.
Administrative Management:
- Participate in the preparation of departmental budgets.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
- Controlling and ensuring the application of internal processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the automation, instrumentation and control sector.
- Minimum of 3 years in team/project management or equivalent.
- Strong interest in managing people.
- Experience in the consulting engineering field (asset).
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written).
- Available to travel outside of Quebec.
